Does school choice improve outcomes? ›

All eight studies found that educational choice programs had positive effects on school climate and safety, with none finding negative outcomes.

Choice Programs

Choice and In-House programs offer the opportunity for students to discover their talents and explore their interests while focusing on academic rigor. These programs provide students with a pathway to post-secondary education and careers.

Each district school board and charter school must adopt a controlled open enrollment plan that allows a parent from any school district in the state to enroll his or her child in and transport his or her child to any public school that has not reached capacity.

The effect on segregation is likely to depend on which families get access to more choices and their preferences for different kinds of schools. If additional choice is afforded to parents who want to send their children to diverse schools, then segregation is likely to fall as a result.

Ron DeSantis expanded Florida's school voucher program and removed the previous requirements. Now all K-12 students are eligible to apply to the program. DeSantis has stated that priority should be given to students whose "household income does not exceed 185% of the federal poverty level" and anyone in foster care.

AICE Courses at JHS
